Portfolio

Examples of work are below. Most of my recent work is proprietary to my company and cannot be displayed publicly. The examples, below, were open to the public when published. On all projects, the team consisted of approximately 3-5 developers. These are some of my most acclaimed and favorite projects, although, there are things I would change about each if I were asked to update them today. That might make a great interview question!

Scholfield Hyundai Dealership Portal - Roles: Site Configuration, Social Media, Photographer, Graphics,

As the Digital Marketing Director, one “full circle” accomplishment was an HTML-based portal to allow customers to choose the store of most convenience. I was the photographer, web developer, and graphics designer, creating the graphics in Adobe Illustrator.

Flash eLearning - Roles: Instructional Designer, Photographer, Graphics, Action Script, XML

I worked and trained with Allen Interactions to create this technically thorough product training. Product features and best practices were the content focus.  My responsibilities included working with the Learning Consultants to identify training needs and with the Subject Matter Experts to gather topics and specifications. I handled the instructional design of individual modules and developed 80% or more of the actual functionality, layout, graphics and code using Photoshop and Flash. This training was originally created for our internal sales and marketing team. It received the highest Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning Gold Award for custom content with interactivity. Once the original version was created for our product, I modified the graphics, photos, terminology, XML and Action Script to customize it for three of our OEM partners including IBM and Dell.

Cabling our products could be quite complicated. This training was designed to allow customers to practice cabling without the risk of damaging live equipment or compromising live data. Once we launched this training, it became clear that the Customer Support call center team could use this tool to troubleshoot customer issues.  The customer was given access to the tool and would configure the interactive tool to match thier setup. They would then export the text file and email it to the support team. The support team would then import the XML to see how the customer’s system was configured.

Explainer Video: RAID - Roles: Writer, Editor, Publisher

Explainer videos are some of the best, most effective, training methods. Short, concise, engaging bits of bite-sized training. Our team produced a series of these videos. Each video was less than five minutes in duration.

Sales Kickoff Video - Roles: Photographer, Videographer, Writer, Editor, Publisher

While working for LSI, I was part of a very small team who organized, assembled, and hosted the annual worldwide sales kickoff. I often created videos to showcase activities or to recap events. This example is an opening ceremony video I created which was shown to the 600 sales team members in attendance in 2010 for our Dallas kickoff. I researched the theme and facts after working with the director of Marketing and Executive Vice President to fully understand the goal of the video. This video was the first thing experienced by all in attendance and was used to “pump up” the sales force for the coming week of networking and training. My responsibilities included research, fact gathering, photography, video, assembly, optimizing, and setting up for delivery. I received a personal “Thank you” from the Executive Vice President, following the event, for having achieved exactly what he envisioned for the team.

SGI Customer Training Portal - Roles: Site Configuration, Social Media, Forum Facilitator, Technical Support, Photographer, Graphics,

Built in Joomla, this was the front-end to our Drupal and Moodle sites for customer education. I also managed customer experience training portals for 5 other OEM teams during this time. The Business Partner Portal was developed with two main goals. First, to get the Business Partners to the training we created allowing them to enroll and attend online or in person. The second goal was to create a secure, online community for sharing ideas, challenges, successes and brainstorming.  I was part of the team that put the technology in place, promoted it and ensured accuracy. My specific duties included technical support for the training as well as maintenance of the site. My duties also included promoting and facilitating the interaction and communication between the BPs.

The company relationships have since discontinued, but this link remains as part of the internet archive.
